    The CP168 is a compact removable mobile rack concept designed for a single E1.S NVMe SSD in highly space-constrained systems. Built around a slim enclosure footprint and removable tray architecture, the CP168 enables front-accessible PCIe Gen5 EDSFF storage deployment in custom rackmount, embedded, compact workstation, and edge computing platforms.

    Designed to support E1.S SSDs up to 9.5mm height, the CP168 combines enterprise-focused removable storage capability with a highly compact mechanical profile that can be integrated into non-standard installation spaces where traditional drive bays are impractical or unavailable.
  • Removable Tool-Less E1.S Storage for Compact System Designs
    Traditional E1.S deployments often rely on custom backplanes or fixed internal system layouts, which can limit flexibility in compact or non-standard platforms. The CP168 introduces a removable tray architecture with tool-less SSD installation, simplifying SSD deployment, replacement, and service workflows in space-constrained systems.
  • The tray supports E1.S SSDs up to 9.5mm height, providing a compact and serviceable EDSFF storage solution for embedded, edge AI, and OEM-integrated platforms. Its slim enclosure structure also enables multiple CP168 units to be integrated into custom high-density layouts where standard enterprise backplane solutions may not be practical.

    Using an MCIO 4i connection, the CP168 supports PCIe 5.0 x4 bandwidth up to 128Gbps (depending on SSD performance), enabling high-speed EDSFF NVMe storage deployment in compact and thermally constrained environments.

    Its ultra-slim removable enclosure design is particularly suitable for systems where traditional E1.S backplanes or standard drive bays cannot be accommodated.

The slim enclosure profile and open rear ventilation structure help minimize airflow restriction while allowing the enclosure to operate efficiently within controlled system airflow environments. This makes the CP168 particularly suitable for compact enterprise, embedded, and edge systems where thermal airflow paths are already carefully engineered.

    The full-metal construction also assists passive heat dissipation while improving structural rigidity for industrial, embedded, and high-density deployments.
OEM Tray Integration Option for 15mm+ E1.S SSDs
For applications requiring support for 15mm E1.S SSDs, CP168 can be configured with compatible ICY DOCK MB218 tray options, such as MB218TP-B or MB218TP-1B, through OEM customization. This allows system integrators to extend CP168 beyond its standard 9.5mm E1.S configuration while maintaining removable tray access and compact chassis integration.
