ToughArmor Series Overview



ICY DOCK's ToughArmor series of ruggedized full-metal removable drive enclosures are widely used in the military, medical, manufacturing and industrial PC industries due to its complete metal chassis and trusted by tier one companies like HP, Google, NASA and many more. The hard drive enclosure designed to house M.2/U.2/2.5" SAS/SATA hard drives and SSD in a standard external 5.25" bay, 3.5" floppy bay, slim optical disk drive bay, and PCIe slot. Thanks to the ToughArmor removable drive tray system, it allows drives to be swap without shutting down or restarting the entire system that can withstand up to constant drive swapping even in the most rugged environment.

The ToughArmor MB873MP-B is a Ruggedized Eight Bay Removable M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure that fits a single 5.25" optical drive bay of the computer system and supporting PCIe 4.0 64Gb/s data transfer rates through 8 x OCuLink (SFF-8612) connectors. It is made out of heavy-duty full-metal construction and uses removable M.2 SSD trays that support tool-less drive installation/removal for effortless drive maintenance. In addition, the MB873MP-B is equipped with dual 40x20mm cooling fans in the rear to remove the heat generated by the high-speed PCIe 4.0 SSD for best cooling performance.

The ToughArmor MB699VP-B V2 is a Ruggedized Quad Bay Removable U.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure supporting PCIe 4.0 and fetching up to 64Gb/s data transfer rates through OCuLink (SFF-8612) interface. It is made out of heavy-duty full-metal construction and equipped with removable U.2 drive trays that simplify the time-consuming drive installation/removal process for easy drive maintenance. As PCIe 4.0 NVMe U.2 SSDs are prone to high temperatures under heavy load, the built-in dual 40x20mm cooling fans keep the drives at optimal temperatures and let you adjust the fan speed through the 3-speed fan control located in the rear of the enclosure.

The ToughArmor MB720MK-B V2 is a Ruggedized Removable Quad M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD Enclosure design for a 5.25" optical drive bay and supporting up to 64Gbp/s data transfer rates via OCulink (SFF-8612) interface. It simplifies the process of installing or removing M.2 NVMe SSD by using the removable drive trays with tool-less adjustable M.2 drive locker, making it easy to change drives at any time without open the computer case or dealing with drive mounting screws. For best cooling performance, the MB720MK-B V2 is equipped with dual cooling fans in the rear to remove the heat generates by the high-speed PCIe 4.0 SSD. The ToughArmor RAID MB902SPR-B is a ruggedized full metal dual bay removable drive enclosure that supports 2 x 2.5” SATA hard drive or SSD in a single optical 5.25” drive bay of your computer/workstation system. With the built-in hardware RAID 1 chipset and easy to read RAID status LED indicators, you can conveniently mirror the 2.5” drives for data redundancy without adding a RAID card or RAID monitoring software on the host end. In addition, Central Process Unit (CPU) is normally required to calculate a RAID but, alternatively, by having a RAID chipset on the enclosure, it frees up the CPU overhead and speeds up the whole system.
